In 2019, Bidhaa Sasa embarked on a new journey to scale our operations and reach more rural households in Kenya. Recognizing the challenges of securing traditional financing in emerging markets, we turned to bettervest, a German crowdfunding platform dedicated to sustainable projects.
Through two successful campaigns on bettervest, we raised a total of USD 400,000. This funding was instrumental in expanding our distribution of clean energy products, such as solar home systems and efficient cookstoves, to underserved communities.
The support from individual investors across Europe not only provided the necessary capital but also validated our mission to empower rural women through access to life-improving technologies. This experience highlighted the potential of crowdfunding as a viable financing avenue for social enterprises operating in challenging environments.
